As you’d expect given the secret nature of our work, we have a few eligibility requirements that you will need to meet to apply to work here. Please read these and make sure you meet these requirements before you apply for a job at MI6:

You need to be a British Citizen
You need to be a British Citizen. If you hold dual nationality then one component will need to be British.

Living in the UK
You need to have lived in the UK for 7 of the past 10 years. Studying and Armed Forces/Diplomatic service overseas counts as being in the UK.

No drugs policy
All MI6 staff and contractors are subject to a no drugs policy from the point of submitting your application form.
This means you cannot use, possess or supply illegal drugs, psychoactive substances and legal highs. Misuse or abuse of prescribed medication or any other substance is also against policy. We realise some of our candidates will have used drugs in the past, but it is important to be open and honest about your drug/substance use during the vetting process. You will be tested for drug use should your application proceed.
